At the Central Coast Sports College one of our trademarks is Kaizen.
What is Kaizen?
Kaizen is the practice of continuous improvement. Today Kaizen is recognised worldwide as an important pillar of an organisation’s long-term competitive strategy. Kaizen is continuous improvement that is based on certain guiding principles:
- Good processes bring good results
- Go see for yourself to grasp the current situation
- Speak with data, manage by facts
- Take action to contain and correct root causes of problems
- Work as a team
- Kaizen is everybody’s business
- And much more!
One of the most notable features of Kaizen is that big results come from many small changes accumulated over time. (From the Kaizen Institute).
Why am I talking about the college’s trademarks you ask? We started working through this process last year and it made a lot of sense that this kind of framework can help in small, medium and large businesses or even in your personal life.
Last year I also started to assess my health and noticed that it was slowly slipping away from me. I made a decision to correct the situation before it was too late. I spoke with a few close friends in regards to some suggestions of where and how to start my journey.
Since that time I have made changes to my resistance training, the food I’m consuming and most importantly, my way of thinking. With the help of my friends, family and some technology I have seen some big results from what turns out to be small changes. While this journey has taken six months so far, it’s only the beginning. As long as I stay strong with the processes I have put in place I will succeed.
Kaizen … a simple word and yet so powerful.
