So over the last three weeks we have been looking at remote control cars. So how do we use remote control cars to teach children? Well let me explain. Over the past three weeks, the students have had to design a race car track of their own.
In their design, they were to work out the area, perimeter, length of the track and angles of the corners. The track had to include at least three different elements. After designing the track, they had to draw it up and finally build the track.
Included in the design of the track we were talking about our driving question of “How do we Persuade People” to buy a redesigned product? So we discussed persuasive writing and how do we actually persuade people. Yes, we found out that the children are really good at persuading their parents to buy them items.
The children were to come up with a marketing campaign for their race track but had a budget of $0. So this is when social media and the influence of it came up.
Tomorrow (Wednesday 25th March) is the day they students get to test out their tracks. During this stage, they will race their cars, collate data (time, etc) and see who’s track can persuade the most amount of people to buy it.
Take a look at the student’s pictures from this project:

Looks like fun! Wondering if the kids will have pics of their own tracks in their workbooks/folders so we can check them out as well? 🙂

What a great idea. I will get that done for you.
