Lately my group has been working hard on developing a style of play. How do we score ? How do we protect our goal?
The players are learning that goals are not scored by accident. There is a process, a step by step method, on how to get the ball from one end of the pitch to the other effectively to create goal scoring opportunities.
If you are playing in a team with no clear vision on how to do this, then you are simply crossing your fingers and hoping for the best. That’s amateur hour as far as I am concerned.
The players are learning how to work together as a team to achieve both attacking and defending tasks. Looking for cues which trigger their next movement or action.
My mantra is, “If you can’t describe what you are doing as a process, then you simply don’t know what you are doing.” I heard that from a highly respected coach and it couldn’t be more true.
Below are some clips from games. The best part about this footage is that the teams are behind and come back to win. They don’t do this by accident or luck. It’s by believing and sticking to the clear framework set by the manager in charge that brings these teams back into the match.
Enjoy.
