WARNING:
This blog contains sexual references and links to web content that are not appropriate for younger children.
One aspect of teaching that can be uncomfortable is talking to young people about sex – especially about pornography. This is an awkward topic, however, as parents, we need to be aware that it’s one of those must-have conversations. Access to pornography is not like it once was. It’s no longer just having a giggle because Dad’s stash was “found” or getting your older brother to purchase a magazine wrapped in plastic. The internet has made a whole new level of pornography instantly accessible to our children, whether they intentionally look for it or not. Technology has taken choice and control away.
I don’t know how you would start this conversation with your teenage son or daughter, but what I do know is that it’s a conversation you need to have. The attached link is a very detailed open letter from a mother to her son. Maybe this might help start the conversation?
